THE REMAINS BOSTON FILM PREMIERE

FROM FRED CANTOR
Monday, August 25, 2008 10:27 AM

Hope all's well. Thought you'd like to know that our documentary on The Remains, "America's Lost Band," will be having its world premiere at the Boston Film Festival (tentatively scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Sept 13). The festival is planning to announce the official selections today, and if you should be interested in writing anything about this, I would simply request that you wait until the festival has issued its press release.

The title of the film is taken from that great quote by Mark Kemp in last year's Paste Magazine when he wrote about Epic's re-issue of The Remains' 1966 debut album: "Had these Boston bad boys stuck it out beyond their 1966 debut, we might today be calling them--and not the Stones--the World's Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band. As it is, The Remains most certainly are America's greatest lost band."

After the screening of the film, The Remains will be doing a Q & A and will play at least a couple of songs. Peter Wolf, the narrator for the film will be in attendance, as will possibly a couple of members from the Lost. So the event will, in part, be a celebration of the sixties Boston music scene.

I can email you additional info about the film, if you're interested. Also, if you would like to write about the content of the film in advance of the premiere, I would be happy to send you a DVD screener. The film is a brisk 65 minutes long! And if you can come to the premiere, pleae let me know so I can help square away press credentials. Thanks, Fred

Film Documentary “America’s Lost Band” Almost Ready

June 17th, 2008

The film about The Remains that’s been in production for two years is about to be released to Film Festivals. Produced by Fred Cantor and Directed by Michael Stich (Emmy Award winner), the documentary is titled “America’s Lost Band”. Most of you may know that The Remains disbanded just after The Beatles U.S.Tour in 1966, thus the title…”Lost Band”. The desired plan is to premiere the film at the Boston International Film Festival in September ‘08. Should this happen, we will perform somewhere in the Boston area to support the premiere, and possibly even at the theater itself, if possible. Boston would be the most appropriate city for the premiere, because The Remains’ band was born in Kenmore Square and was galvanized while playing concerts, colleges, clubs and fraternity parties throughout Boston and all six New England states during the mid Sixties. The film will also be submitted to other film festivals around the country and overseas. It’s very exciting and we hope to see many of you at a screening.
